Talk to your Government!
When contacting policy influencers in local and state government, the general rule is that they pay the most attention to phone calls, next to mail received through the post office, and lastly to web-based petitions. So although all of these can be useful, sending letters has much more impact than simply signing an online petition (although feel free to do that as well, everything helps!).
First of all, if you’re going to make a phone call (and it’s surprisingly easy, just dial the number and speak to the very polite and receptive aide who will answer the phone!), it helps to have some talking points so that you can be clear about what you want to say.
