As most of you know, trees are right now being felled at Otis State Forest in preparation for the expansion of the existing pipeline. Though the window is narrowing, there is still more that we can do (and need to do) right now!
Please call your congresspeople to tell them to pressure FERC for a response to the letters that were written a few weeks ago asking for FERC to revoke the approval for tree-felling and construction. I was directly informed by Representative Neal’s Springfield office that their DC office is doing just this!
Senator Warren’s Office: (617) 565-3170
Senator Markey’s Office: (617) 565-8519
Congressman Neal’s Office: (413) 785-0325 (if he’s your Congressman)
The letters they wrote to FERC were a direct response to constituent calls and letters asking for that action. My calls to Neal and Markey just last week indicate that they are still listening and that they understand that there is a need to hold FERC accountable to the unaddressed citizen concerns. It is essential that we thank them for their previous efforts and encourage a sustained effort to prevent this project from continuing!
